What is a word for someone who enjoys learning?

I'm one of those people who really enjoys learning and practicing things. I wanted to know if there was a word that encapsulated that quality. Not "studious" or "academic" because that is just someone who is intelligent or well-educated. I'm talking about someone who is passionate about expanding their knowledge and understanding of things. Someone who strives for mastery just for fun.
